The front grille on a '59 Ninety Eight is unique. The aluminum background on all other models is a flat mesh screen, where as the 98 is cast aluminum and 3 dimensional. Also, the headlamp bezels on a 98 are chromed pot metal, rather than anodized aluminum on the other series.
My Olds still sports its ORIGINAL 1959 Colorado license plates. It was never re-registered after 1959, when Colorado would have issued fresh new steel plates. The car is now registered in California, and I place current California plates on the car when it is driven on rare occasions. When I bought the car in 1992 it had only 4,500 miles - I have driven the car on special occasions over the years, and as of March 2003, the odometer showed 6,800 miles.
