1958 Buick Limited Riviera coupe
inside Limited decklid
The 1958 Limited series was derived from Buick's previous flagship, The Roadmaster. In order to justify the Limited's extra cost, Buick stretched the Roadmaster trunk and quarter panels and added lots of special chrome trim. The trunk is absolutely massive. The passenger comparment is virtually identical to a 1958 Roadmaster. Here is the underside of my Limited's decklid where you can see that Buick literally "spliced-in" the extra length. Of course the top suface of the decklid is nicely finished with no visible seams. The wheelbase and frame are the same as the Roadmaster, but the Limited uses heavy steel bumper extension brackets to allow for the longer rear quarter panel and trunk, causing a considerable rear overhang. The paint on the underside of the decklid is perfect original GM "Magic Mirror" acrylic lacquer.
