I doubt there are many other B-58's out there with an authentic exhaust system like this one has. The 1958 Limited left the Buick plant with whisper quiet exhaust. A friend of mine called it "The Buick Burble." The factory dual exhaust system consisted of steel pipes attached via ball-and -socket connectors to 1 muffler and 2 resonators per side. So in essence there were 6 mufflers (instead of 4 on other cars) on every Limited that left the factory! Of course the factory mufflers eventually rusted out and were usually replaced with aftermarket components. Few owners took their old Buick to a dealer's service department to be re-fitted with an expensive original type exhuast system. Over a period of years I managed to locate serveral original Buick new-old-stock exhaust components for my Limited. A complete set has been installed on the car. Pictured here are extra components for one side of the dual exhaust system. Most 50's cars left their factories with a muffler and resonator, but only Buick used 2 resonators per side for extra silencing. The muffler is the largest component in the photo which is mounted with the smaller resonator near the middle of the chassis. The round resonator is mounted near the very rear of the car.
