THE ORIGINAL 1950's NBC PEACOCK
NBC's first color broadcasts showed only a still frame of the colorful peacock, but with the September 1957 debut of "Your Hit Parade," the peacock was gloriously animated as you see here, and thereafter appeared at the beginning of every NBC color broadcast until revamped animation appeared in 1962.

ABC and CBS dabbled briefly with color broadcasts in the 1950's, but NBC was the network that pioneered color television, gradually adding more and more color programs to their schedule. The Peacock proudly proclaimed NBC's superiority as the "Living Color" network.
